Kerry Knowles - Family Law Solicitor

Having grown up in Tauranga and then studying at Waikato University I moved to Auckland in 2004 to start my legal career in a general practice firm. In February 2008, I moved to Family Law Results to specialise in Family Law and grow my legal skills and experience.

In my spare time I socialise with friends and family and enjoy playing team sports such as hockey.

Solicitor, Barrister, Lawyer or Legal Eagle?

At Family Law Results we call our lawyers "Legal Eagles". Why? We want our lawyers to stand out from the crowd and because we want them to aspire to being the best. Not just lawyers but Legal Eagles instead.

Solicitor, Barrister or Lawyer - what's the difference?

Lawyer is a catch all term for barristers, solicitors, in-house counsel - everyone who practises law.

Barristers, traditionally, are those lawyers who represent people in court. Solicitors, traditionally, are the lawyers who work with the client and instruct the barrister. In practical terms, in New Zealand, there is not a lot of difference and all of the lawyers at Family Law Results are Barristers and Solicitors.
