Facing the prospect of your child being moved away by another parent, can be stressful and upsetting.

Whether a child can be moved legally will be affected by a number of factors, including but not limited to:

  • can you reach agreement with the other parent or guardian(s)?
  • where are the children moving to - internationally or within New Zealand?
  • what are the benefits to the children to moving?
  • how the relationship between your children and all parents be supported or maintained
In some cases, urgent action can be taken to prevent children from being moved overseas or away from where they normally live.
